ViroProbe™ Human Immunodeficiency Virus 1 (clone ADA8) Env Probe

This HIV1 sense probe is designed to target Human immunodeficiency virus 1 (HIV) RNA in cellular and tissue environments. The probe can be used in situ hybridization. The probe is for HIV infection research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis.

| Introduction : | Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a virus that attacks the body's immune system. Two types of HIV have been characterized: HIV-1 and HIV-2. HIV-1 is more virulent and more infective than HIV-2, and is the cause of the majority of HIV infections globally. HIV-1 is a retrovirus, belonging to a group of heterogeneous, lipid-enveloped RNA viruses. The virus infects CD4-positive T cells and macrophages, and dendritic cells. The infection leads to low levels of CD4+ cells and loss of cell-mediated immunity. Over time, they cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). |
