Virology Testing
The rapid emergence of infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, highlights the critical need to better understand the biology of viral infection, host interactions, and the immune response. At Creative Biolabs, we have developed a variety of virology assays to determine the viral titer and assess the effectiveness of antibodies, antivirals, and vaccines. Our expertise provides our clients with the most robust portfolio of assays for their virology research.
What Can We Provide?
- Viral Load Quantification
Plaque assay, tissue culture infectious dose 50% Assay (TCID50 Assay), and the focus-forming unit assay (FFU) are the most commonly used quantitative assays for titering infectious viruses. At Creative Biolabs, we provide several assays to facilitate fast, easy and accurate determination of infectious viral titer.
Plaque Assay
Plaque assay is the standard method for determining viral titers. The assay relies on determining the number of plaque-forming units (PFU) created in a monolayer of virus-infected cells.
FFU Assay
The FFU assay is an immunostaining technique and a variation of the viral plaque assay. This assay detects infected host cells and infectious virus particles prior to the formation of a plaque.
TCID50 Assay
TCID50 is defined as the dilution of a virus required to infect 50% of a given cell culture.
qPCR Assay
qPCR Assay provides a fast and simple method for measuring lentivirus titer.
- Antiviral Assays
Screening for antiviral activity is an important step in drug discovery. We provide a comprehensive range of testing services to aid in the development of antiviral drugs and vaccines. The assays we have readily available for in vitro antiviral testing are described below.
Antibody-Dependent Enhancement (ADE) Assay
ADE assays are a useful tool for determining antibodies' ability to enhance secondary infection with related viruses.
Microneutralization Assay
The microneutralization assay is a specific assay for detecting virus-specific neutralizing antibodies (purified antibodies or serum/plasma).
Hemagglutination Inhibition Assay
The primary method for determining quantitative antibody titers for influenza virus is the hemagglutination inhibition assay. Antigens are obtained from red blood cells in the assay.
Antiviral Drug Screening
We provides antiviral drug screening services to help our clients identify antiviral products.
