Target Details

Full Name : Cercopithecine Herpesvirus 9
Accession number : AF275348.3
Target Region : 102924-104027
Introduction : Cercopithecine herpesvirus 9 (CeHV-9), also named simian varicella virus (SVV), is a member of the Alphaherpesvirinae in the genus Varicellovirus. The virus causes a naturally occurring exanthematous disease similar to human varicella. After resolution of the primary disease, CeHV-9 establishes latent infection in neural ganglia. Stress or immunosuppression may induce viral reactivation. CeHV-9 infects primates and shares clinical, pathological, immunological, and virological features with varicella-zoster virus infection of humans. CeHV-9 infection of nonhuman primates is a useful model for study of varicella pathogenesis and development of antiviral therapies.
Alternative Names : Cercopithecine herpesvirus 9; CeHV-9; simian varicella virus; SVV
